CAD Drawings for Manufacture

CAD Drawings for Manufacture

The Gariff process begins with our design technicians turning your concept into detailed drawings for manufacture in our workshop. If you’re not sure how your design can become a reality, we can assist with site surveys, devising a method of construction & installation and also solve any problems before your items go into production. Once drawings are signed off, they are loaded onto our bespoke Gariff Application software, workshop orders are created and collaboration begins with our manufacturing managers and their team. At this point we can also assist with value engineering and sampling to confirm clients are satisfied and on budget. Subsequently, our technicians begin the component ordering process to ensure your completion dates are achieved.

Bench Hand Joinery

Bench Hand Joinery

Gariff’s unique selling point is that we employee our own team of skilled craftsmen who carefully build every item of bespoke joinery in our 38,000sqft manufacturing facility in Trafford Park, Manchester. Our experienced bench hand joiners are split into teams who work on specific contracts ensuring that every element is custom-built to the clients’ specification. All our joiners are time-served, many have been trained in our own apprenticeship scheme and the majority have stayed with us for many years. Each year we aim to employee new apprentices, who are then given an experienced mentor thus ensuring their skills are passed on to the future of Gariff.

Wood Machining

Wood Machining

Housed within our 38,000sqft manufacturing facility we have upwards of £1m worth of machinery encompassing both state-of-the-art equipment and traditional technique machines that have been here since the beginning of Gariff. We have recently invested in a new advanced 5-axis CNC router allowing us greater versatility in shaping materials to our client’s requirements. Our dedicated wood machinists also operate a variety of other equipment including fully-automatic beam saws, spindle moulders, Mortise & Tenon machines and a 5-sided moulder giving us the flexibility to produce not only one-off pieces of joinery but also large production runs if required.

Veneering

Veneering

We offer a full veneering service with its own traditionally trained veneer hands and specialist machinery. Each sheet of veneer we use for your project will be cut to size on our veneer guillotines, stitched with hot clue to other sheets using a veneer jointing machine and finally placed in our hot press for application to the substrate. Our highly skilled team can offer a variety of techniques to match up the veneer sheets such as Book Matching and Slip Matching to ensure maximum continuity of the grain on your project. Furthermore, our staff are also trained in traditional marquetry techniques, the craft of applying pieces of veneer to a structure to form decorative patterns, inlays or designs by hand.

Postforming & Laminating

Postforming & Laminating

Postforming is the process of making flat sheets of laminate or Acrovyn® wrap smoothly over the rounded edge of another material such as MDF. Gariff employ a fully trained team of Postformers to operate the specialist machinery required to complete this work. Every item first passes through our separate spray booth for the application of contact adhesive, it will then pass through the nip rollers to ensure a secure bond, before finally entering the postforming machine. We also have a hot press for PVA application of laminate which allows for a stronger bond. This hardwearing and hygienic material is mostly used in public buildings for items such as vanity units, toilet cubicles & IPS panel systems for washrooms.

Acoustic Wall Systems

Acoustic Wall Systems

Gariff have the ability to manufacture bespoke acoustic value panelling systems custom-built to your space whether it be a lecture theatre, performance space or several storey atrium. If required, we can produce mock-ups of the panelling design and send to Salford University’s Acoustic Test & Calibration Laboratory to ensure the correct rating is achieved. Clients are then provided with full test reports before panels are put into production in our workshop. We can produce acoustic panels using a variety of materials including CNC perforated timber and fabric wrapped panels.
